The anti-fur protester who flour-bombed Kim Kardashian at an event last week has been identified as an activist with the animal-rights group People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals -- leading Kardashian's younger sister, Khloé, to sever ties with the organization.
"I just received word that the woman responsible has very close ties to PETA, despite PETA publicly stating otherwise," Khloé Kardashian, 27, wrote on her website. "I've been a vocal supporter of PETA for a long time but I have also been very vocal about anti-bullying, so this was a huge disappointment for me."
Khloé posed for PETA's "I'd rather go naked than wear fur" campaign in 2009, a process captured on Season Three of the sisters' E! show "Keeping Up with the Kardashians."
Kim, who is often photographed in fur and was singled out by a PETA billboard in November, did not appear to be wearing fur at the event.
TMZ identified the flour attacker as Christina Cho, whom PETA called a "member" and a "superstar activist" in 2010 when she grabbed a microphone from designer Donna Karan at a women's conference in order to condemn the use of fur in fashion.
"I personally don't wear fur but that doesn't mean I am going to force my views on anyone else, ESPECIALLY by violating them," Khloé wrote. "I will still continue to NOT wear fur, but I will no longer support PETA. Bullying and harassment is NEVER a solution, and I won't be a part of any organization that thinks otherwise."
PETA, which denied responsibility for the attack but would provide support to anyone prosecuted for it, responded Tuesday in a statement: "We appreciate that Khloé will remain on the animals' side by not wearing fur -- that's what counts. If one of our volunteers is responsible, it doesn't alter the fact that no animal deserves to be electrocuted, shot, or poisoned for a bit of fur clothing. Khloé is just defending her sister, and we know she has a good heart, so we wish her well. We just wish she also had more influence on her sister."
