Actress Kirsten Dunst and her boyfriend, actor Garrett Hedlund, have reportedly broken up.

Us Weekly said Wednesday that “Midnight Special” star Dunst, 33, and Hedlund, 31, most recently seen as Hook in last year’s Peter Pan prequel “Pan,” ended their relationship after four years of dating. He told Details in its February 2013 issue that after the two met while filming the 2012 adaptation of Jack Kerouac’s “On the Road,” their first date consisted of a 3 a.m. canoe ride. “It was not a stable canoe,” he said. “We fell out and had to swim back in mucky . . . water, like golf-pond water.”

They made their first public appearance together in January 2012, Us said, and were living together in Los Angeles. E! News noted they were together as recently as the Golden Globe Awards ceremony on Jan. 10. In an October interview with the UK newspaper The Guardian, she called Hedlund “a very good person. He’s just kind; a kind man.”

Dunst, who also starred in season 2 of FX’s “Fargo,” previously lived with actor Jake Gyllenhaal. Introduced by his sister, actress Maggie Gyllenhaal, they were together from September 2002 until announcing their breakup in July 2004. Dunst later dated Razorlight frontman Johnny Borrell.

“Every time I’ve fallen immediately in lust or whatever it is, you think it’s love,” she told The Guardian, “but it has always ended badly. Always. It’s always when I’ve grown to love someone that it’s a real relationship. And not fantasyland.”
