The designer and former model L’Wren Scott has reportedly been found dead in her New York City apartment at 200 11th Ave. The longtime girlfriend of Rolling Stone Mick Jagger, was, according to reports, found hanging from a scarf on her doorknob in her apartment by her assistant about 10 a.m. Monday. She was in her late 40s.

Jagger, who is touring with the Stones in Australia, is "completely shocked and devastated by the news" of her death, his spokeswoman told The Associated Press. The two met in 2001 and have been a couple since.

Scott, a celebrated designer who was born Luann Bambrough and raised in Utah stood out in a crowd at 6’3” tall.  After a successful modeling career, she took the route of stylist for magazines and movies including “Eyes Wide Shut” and “Ocean's Thirteen.” She launched her eponymous brand in 2006 and has dressed luminaries such as Angelina Jolie and Nicole Kidman for awards ceremonies.  Other high-profile names include first lady Michelle Obama, Madonna, and Amy Adams.

Scott’s high-end collections were known for their sophistication, sharp tailoring, sexiness and luxurious fabrics.  But most recently she took her luxe look to the masses and collaborated on a 50-piece, limited edition collection with Banana Republic.

In an eerie twist, there were two posts that appeared on Scott’s official Facebook page and Twitter account around the time of her death.

A law enforcement official told The Associated Press no note was found and there was no sign of foul play. The official spoke to the AP on condition of anonymity because the victim's next of kin had not yet been notified.
