Lance Bass engaged to boyfriend Michael Turchin

Singer Lance Bass, formerly of the boy band *NSync, has gotten engaged to his boyfriend, aspiring actor Michael Turchin.

"He said YES!! Love this man," Bass tweeted Sunday shortly after Us Weekly first reported the news. Accompanying the tweet was a photo of the two with Turchin wearing what Us described as "a black diamond band."

Turchin had tweeted several hours earlier, without elaboration, "Happiest guy in the world :)."

The couple have been together since December 2011, said Us, which noted that Bass texted Turchin's parents to ask their permission before proposing.

Drew Pokorny, head writer and co-host with Bass of the SiriusXM radio show "Dirty Pop," told People magazine that the couple is vacationing in New Orleans over Labor Day weekend. "They're so great together. I'm completely thrilled for them," Pokorny told the magazine. "Lance had his heart set on asking Michael here in New Orleans and celebrated with some of his closest friends from Mississippi and L.A. who came in for the weekend."

Bass, 34, came out in 2006 with a People magazine cover story.
