Lindsay Lohan leaves Malibu rehab center
The day after Lindsay Lohan finished her court-ordered rehab stint, a Los Angeles judge Wednesday set conditions for the actress to undergo continued psychological counseling.
At a proof-of-completion hearing the actress was not required to attend, Judge James R. Dabney ordered Lohan to have three 50-minute sessions of "psychological therapy" a week for the next 15 months. Lohan is scheduled to finish therapy on Nov. 3, 2014.
Dabney said she could do therapy via Skype when not in Los Angeles. The judge also allowed her to do community service in New York if Santa Monica and Los Angeles prosecutors agreed.
Richard Taite, head of the California treatment facility Cliffside Malibu where Lohan stayed for the bulk of her treatment, warned in a letter to the court that it was "critical" for Lohan to continue "court-ordered therapy," saying, "Our entire clinical team is in unanimous agreement that if these sessions are not required by the court and attendance verified . . . it is a setup for almost certain failure."
The actress will continue working with her sober coach, Lohan's attorney Shawn Holley said. "It was absolutely her idea to stay with the sober coach," Holley told Newsday in an email. "She's so positive, so focused, so interested in getting her life on the right track, in a way that I have not seen before this point."
The actress' mother, Dina Lohan, told Newsday Wednesday, "We're just so happy that she's completed the program." She said her son, Michael, is flying to Los Angeles to accompany his sister back to New York.
Lohan left Cliffside Malibu treatment center Tuesday, after completing a 90-day court-ordered rehab stint. She checked into the Betty Ford Center on May 2 and transferred to Cliffside in June.
