Actress Lindsay Lohan says she recently required surgery to reattach part of a finger cut off in a boating accident.
Sunday morning, the “Mean Girls” star, 30, posted two consecutive tweets reading, “This is why I shouldn’t try to help get the rope to anchor the boat. I lost half of my finger.…” Each linked to a since-deleted Instagram page. Several outlets saved and posted what they said was Lohan’s short Instagram video, in which she shows the wrapped ring finger of her left hand and says, “This is the result of my trying to help anchor the boat by myself.” She adds with a rueful chuckle, “My poor finger.”
Several outlets and at least one respondent to the first of her tweets also posted a similar still image of her hand that Lohan, originally of Cold Spring Harbor and Merrick, appears to have posted on Snapchat. “I almost lost my finger from the anchor,” reads a text overlay. “Well, I lost half my finger, thank goodness we found the piece of my finger… i just had surgery to fix it,” she said, with three tearful emojis. “it hurts so bad,” she wrote, followed by an emoji of hands clasped in prayer.
Lohan did not say where the accident took place or who was with her. Last weekend she posted Instagram images of her visit with a refugee family that had settled in Istanbul after escaping from Syria’s devastating civil war. Turkey’s state news agency, Anadolu, said Lohan also went to a health clinic for refugees, where her time with a paralyzed Syrian man brought her to tears.
