Lindsay Lohan to guest-host 'Chelsea Lately' on Aug. 5
Just a few days after she's scheduled to end her court-ordered stay in rehab, Lindsay Lohan will guest-host E!'s late-night talk show "Chelsea Lately."
The network announced Monday that the actress, 27, will helm the show Aug. 5. E! said she will interact with sidekick Chuy Bravo, interview an as-yet-unnamed celebrity guest and run the roundtable, in which three guests and/or show staffers chat on recent pop culture.
The news comes in the wake of the Oprah Winfrey Network (OWN) announcing that the "Mean Girls" star will appear in an eight-part TV series about her much-publicized struggles with substance abuse and the legal system, as well as her career and her future plans. Documentary filmmaker Amy Rice (2009's "By the People: The Election of Barack Obama") is directing.
OWN and Harpo Studios presidents Erik Logan and Sheri Salata said last week that with Winfrey on vacation and Lohan still in rehab at Cliffside Malibu in California, the series' specific direction has yet to be decided. The show, scheduled to air next year, will be preceded by an interview with Winfrey airing on Aug. 18.
Meanwhile, "The Canyons," the independently produced erotic thriller starring Lohan and adult-film actor James Deen, had its world premiere Monday night at The Film Society of Lincoln Center's Walter Reade Theater. It will be released theatrically on Friday.
Lohan's representative said last month that Lohan will attend the Venice Film Festival, which opens Aug. 28, to promote "The Canyons."
