Mariah Carey sets five Christmas-themed pop-up bars, including Manhattan
Music star Mariah Carey, whose name has become synonymous with the season, is welcoming the Yuletide with five Christmas"-themed pop-up bars nationwide, including one in Manhattan.
“It’s...TIME! An official @mariahsholidaybar is coming to 5 US cities for the first time ever!" announced a joint post Friday at the Instagram accounts for Mariah Carey’s Black Irish Holiday Bar and the events-booking app Bucket Listers. “Step into the world of @mariahcarey with life-sized photo ops and holiday themed cocktails ... plus sing along to 30 years of Mariah’s hit Christmas tunes…."
The pop-ups spotlight Carey’s Black Irish brand of cream liqueur, which the Long Island Music and Entertainment Hall of Famer has said she named for her mixed Black and Irish heritage.
Operating from Nov. 15 to Dec. 29 in Chicago, Dallas, Nashville, New Orleans and The Pool Club at Virgin Hotels New York City, the pop-ups feature drinks and weekend brunch plus sing-alongs to Carey songs, a “Letters to Mariah" station, and photo ops with a life-sized gift box, a Black Irish Christmas tree, an “All I Want for Christmas Is You" neon sign and a wreath designed to recreate the album cover from “Mariah Carey's Magical Christmas Special."
Tickets are available at Bucketlisters.com for 90-minute slots for ages 21-and-older only, starting at $22 per person. They include one signature Black Irish cocktail. Weekend brunches with cocktail and an entrée are $30 per person.
Five-time Grammy Award winner Carey, 55, who was born in Huntington and raised there and in Melville, Northport and Greenlawn, also on Friday released her traditional video short heralding the end of Halloween season and the beginning of Christmas.
In an “Addams Family"-inspired black-and-white sequence with herself as Morticia and an actor as husband Gomez, the couple tango and she taunts him with a thrown knife. Then an armoire opens with a Santa suit inside, as Gomez becomes a cheerfully dancing snowman and Carey creates a winter wonderland before flying off in a reindeer-pulled sleigh.
Additionally, Carey is playing her first Long Island concert in 18 years when she brings her annual holiday show to UBS Arena in Elmont on Dec. 15, marking her debut at the venue.
