Pop star Rihanna and volatile singer Chris Brown, who pleaded guilty to assaulting her in 2009, reportedly have broken up once more after having reconciled earlier this year, according to E! Online.

Rihanna, 25, who is currently winding down her international Diamonds tour, is reportedly planning to concentrate on her singing career and on business ventures including a new perfume and fashion campaigns, E! said.

Brown, 23, had confirmed the relationship in February, saying "We are back together. She is the most beautiful girl in the world."

Rihanna had raised controversy by reigniting a relationship with Brown, who was sentenced to 5 years probation and more than 1,400 hours community service for the assault.

A probation report at that time had documented at least two previous domestic violence incidents before the beating in February 2009. A month before the August 2009 sentencing, Brown publicly apologized on a video posted to his website.

By February 2012 Us Weekly was reporting that Brown and Rihanna were secretly seeing each other. The two kissed in front of a crowd at the MTV Video Music Awards that September.

On Friday, a Los Angeles judge ordered Brown to return to court on June 10 to resolve uncertainty over whether the singer had completed his community labor.

Deputy District Attorney Mary A. Murray had filed a motion on Feb. 5 noting discrepancies in a report written by police in Richmond, Va., where Brown had been permitted to complete his service.

Representatives for both performers did not return Newsday's requests for comment.
