Where in the world is Robert Pattinson?

Following revelations last week of infidelity by his longtime girlfriend and "Twilight" co-star Kristen Stewart, the actor has kept a low profile that has sparked transatlantic rumors of sightings.

Us Weekly and People magazine both said Wednesday that Pattinson, 26, retreated last week to his friend and "Water for Elephants" co-star ReeseWitherspoon's seven-acre ranch in Ojai, Calif. E! News reported Wednesday that the actor was no longer staying there.

Other online reports have said Pattinson has returned home to London to create distance from the Los Angeles-based Stewart and to attend the Summer Olympics.

Meanwhile, a representative for Pattinson Wednesday denied an "Entertainment Tonight" report saying the actor would not attend an upcoming news appearance to promote writer-director David Cronenberg's "Cosmopolis," in which Pattinson stars. The film is being released in the United States on Aug. 17. " 'Cosmopolis' is a film that Robert is very proud of and looks forward to supporting," the representative said in a statement. "No confirmed engagements have been canceled. Any reports to the contrary are inaccurate."

People magazine said the representative's statement meant Pattinson would attend both the Manhattan premiere on Aug. 13 and a news event there the next day. However, E! News cited a studio representative in reporting that a Los Angeles press junket for the movie, planned for the Aug. 10 weekend, has been called off.
