Singer Robin Thicke and his wife, actress Paula Patton, have separated.
"We will always love each other and be best friends; however, we have mutually decided to separate at this time," the couple told People magazine Monday in a statement.
"Blurred Lines" singer Thicke, 36, the son of "Growing Pains" star Alan Thicke, and "About Last Night" actress Patton, 38, married on June 11, 2005. Their son, Julian Fuego, was born in April 2010 in Los Angeles.
They had met when Thicke was 14, and dated in high school. Patton went on to the University of Southern California Film School while Thicke became a singer and songwriter.
The couple's last public appearance together was at the Grammy Awards on Jan. 26, at Los Angeles' Staples Center, said E! Online.
In 2009, Thicke told Essence magazine, "The number-one thing is that any real relationship starts with respect. You have to respect that person, and that way you'll listen to them and you'll care about what they're saying."
