Rosie O’Donnell’s ex Michelle Rounds dead in apparent suicide

Michelle Rounds, the ex-wife of Commack native Rosie O’Donnell, died on Monday in an apparent suicide, according to TMZ.com. Rounds, who was 46, died in her home, the website said.
O’Donnell’s rep released the following statement from the comedian on Friday: “I am saddened to hear about this terrible tragedy. Mental illness is a very serious issue affecting many families. My thoughts and prayers go out to Michelle’s family, her wife and their child.”
Rounds’ mother also issued a statement on social media urging people to donate to National Suicide Prevention.
Rounds and O’Donnell, 55, began dating in 2011 and were wed in a private ceremony in June 2012. They separated in November 2014, and three months later O’Donnell filed for divorce, citing an “irretrievably broken relationship.” The divorce was finalized in March 2016 and O’Donnell was granted full custody of the couple’s adopted daughter Dakota, 4.
In September 2015, Rounds had been hospitalized in upstate Nyack after an apparent overdose of pills. At the time, People reported that O’Donnell had been in contact with Rounds during the incident and that she stayed on the phone with her ex until Rounds was transported to the hospital.
Before her marriage to Rounds, O’Donnell was wed to Kelli Carpenter, with whom she shares four children: Parker, 22, Chelsea, 19, Blake, 17, and Vivienne, 14.
