Yes, she is: Mariah Carey confirms her pregnancy
Nick Cannon tweeted in June, when reports first suggested that his songstress wife, Mariah Carey, was pregnant, that, "If & when my wife is ready to make ANY announcements about private matters she will do it personally."
And now she has.
"Yes, we're pregnant, this is true," the Grammy-winning Carey said on NBC's "Today" show Thursday. Accompanied by actor, hip-hop artist Cannon, host of "America's Got Talent," she said, "It's still early; we're expecting in the spring."
The Greenlawn native also explained her reticence toward confirming a pregnancy that seemed obvious to most observers, revealing that she had suffered a miscarriage shortly after she and Cannon wed in 2008, about a month after a pregnancy test came out positive.
Carey, whose 13th studio album, "Merry Christmas II You," comes out next week, appeared in a "sneak peek" segment promoting an upcoming "Access Hollywood" interview. "It's been a long journey, but it's been tough because I've been trying to . . . hold on to a shred of privacy," she told "Access" host Billy Bush. "And that was not easy."
New York radio station NOW 92.3/FM said Thursday that Carey would appear at 7 a.m. Friday on her husband's radio show, "Rollin' With Nick Cannon." Through the station, Cannon released the statement: "My wife and I are extremely blessed and excited. This is going to be an emotional journey, and we thank everyone for all the well wishes."
Bush said on "Today" that the couple told him they had conceived naturally and don't plan to learn the gender of the baby before its birth.
This will be the first child for Carey, 41, and Cannon, 30.
