Comedian Patrice O'Neal has died of complications from a stroke he suffered in October, according to The Associated Press. He was 41.

O'Neal was often a guest star of the radio show "Opie & Anthony Show," and host Opie confirmed the news of his death via Twitter.

"Yes it's true that our pal Patrice O'Neal has passed away. The funniest and best thinker I've ever known PERIOD," he tweeted.

O'Neal's manager, Jonathan Brandstein, told the AP the comedian died Tuesday morning in a New York-area hospital. Brandstein said in a statement, "Many of us have lost a close and loved friend; all of us have lost a true comic genius."

O’Neal was known for his cable stand-up comedy specials, often appearing on HBO and Showtime. In August, he appeared in Comedy Central's “Roast of Charlie Sheen.”

Celebs reacted to the news of the O’Neal’s death on Twitter.

Fellow comedian Will Ferrell tweeted: “RIP Patrice O'Neal. Tough to see a great comedian pass away so young. RT to help get it trending. #RIPPatrice”

Nick Cannon, Jim Gaffigan and Russell Simmons tweeted similar sentiments.
