The results are in. According to MTV, the hottest MC of 2010 is -- Eminem. Rounding out the top 5 were Jay-Z, Kanye West, Drake and Rick Ross. Nikki Minaj was the only female rapper on the list, coming in at No. 6. The Net has been going off since this list was released  Monday about who should and shouldn't have been on it.

Rappers were chosen based on a combination of rhyme skill, flow, buzz, commerical success, business ventures, Web presence and cultural influence. Given the criteria, I guess I can agree with the list, EXCEPT for Waka Flocka. What? Why is he on anyone's list? Waka Flacka Flame needs to be extingushed, but sadly he did generate a lot of buzz in 2010 (shaking my head).

Nikki Minaj will always be on someone's list because she is the only female rapper out there right now who is doing her thing. This makes me sad because before I heard her verses on "Hello Good Morning," and "Monster," I didn't understand what the hype was about.  She had seemed  like a second generation Lil' Kim to me who was pulling a Drake by doing cameos on everyone's record. (Why she appeared on a Sean Kingston song still puzzles me.)

All respect is due to Eminem who came back with pure fire this year after taking a three-year hiatus. He also earned the top spot on the BET  "Top 10 Rappers of the 21st Century."  I have been a fan of his since his first album, "The Slim Shady." His lyricism deserves a round of applause.

Did MTV get it right? If not, who would be on your list? Check out all the artists who made the cut, below, and leave your thoughts.
