Jason Segel turns down ‘Muppets’ sequel
Jason Segel has decided that he’s a man, not a muppet. The “How I Met Your Mother” star has confirmed to “The Hollywood Reporter” that he will not cowrite the sequel to the 2011 movie “The Muppets,” and has no plans to star in the film either.
While promoting his new film “Jeff, Who Lives at Home,” Segel said “my goal was to bring back 'The Muppets,' and I feel like we did it. I just felt like I did what I set out to do. I’m really happy that they’re back to where they belong.”
When asked if he would consider starring in the film, Segel said it wasn't likely. "It doesn’t really make organic sense. Maybe I’ll do something in the future but no, I’m just sort of happy to send my kids off into the world."
With Segel out, here are suggestions on who we’d like to see have adventures with Kermit, Piggy and the gang.
Jim Parsons: The Emmy-award winner made a memorable cameo in the movie and proved that he’s a “muppet of a man.”
Neil Patrick Harris: Another actor who made a cameo, Segel’s “How I Met Your Mother” co-star has the singing and acting chops to make beautiful music with the Muppets.
Jack Black: Since the Muppets kidnapped him to be the big guest star in their telethon, he could definitely hold his own with the gang.
Tina Fey: Let’s just say that the “30 Rock” actress identifies very closely with being a Muppet.
