Celebrity gowns: The 'Twilight' bride

First there was Kate. Then Kim ... and Kim ... and Kim. And now it's Bella Swan's turn.

We're talking brides, of course, and their buzzworthy gowns -- and this year's had a slew, from Kate Middleton (wearing a gown by Sarah Burton) to Kim Kardashian (it's still hard to believe she actually wore three Vera Wangs). And now "Twilight" heroine Bella Swan, who will marry vampire Edward Cullen in "The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn -- Part 1."

Forget Team Edward or Team Jacob. Fashionistas now are all Team Carolina, as in Carolina Herrera, who designed Bella's dress, details of which are still under wraps.

The designer drew inspiration from the description in the original "Breaking Dawn" book, and "took into consideration the characteristics of Bella's personality and style," says Herrera, noting she's "a big follower of the 'Twilight Saga.'"

Herrera's done big-screen bridal gowns before, creating a dress for Carrie Bradshaw's gown montage in the first "Sex and the City" film.

Whether the wedding is real or fictional (or, in Kardashian's case, perhaps somewhere in between) makes no difference to the bridal industry, or consumers.

"Celebrities set the trends now in the bridal world," says Sania Recupero, manager of The Wedding Salon of Manhasset (which sells gowns by Herrera, Marchesa and other top designers) and Vera Wang of Manhasset.

"Hilary Duff got married last year, and her gown is one of our top sellers -- it's insane," says Recupero. (Duff's dress -- a ruched tulle strapless by Wang -- retails for $6,500.)

David's Bridal will sell lower-priced versions of Kardashian's dresses, and Alfred Angelo is creating affordable versions of Bella's dress.

For Recupero's clients, however, knockoffs won't do.

"They want the dress," says Recupero. "They want to be her."

OK, ladies. Have it your way. But in this case, it means marrying a groom as pale as the dress.
