The 1990 Christmas-themed hit celebrates its 25th anniversary with two screenings, November 8 and 11, presented by Fathom Events and 20th Century Fox.

The film was originally released Nov. 6, 1990. The two theatrical screenings will follow the Oct. 6 release of the home video box set "Home Alone: Anniversary Collection," with all five "Home Alone" movies on DVD.

Written by John Hughes and directed by Chris Columbus, "Home Alone" starred Macaulay Culkin as 8-year-old Kevin McCallister, whose family departs for a Christmas vacation without him. Kevin's adventures begin when two burglars (Daniel Stern and Joe Pesci) attempt to break into the house. The movie's mix of slapstick comedy, Coyote-Roadrunner booby-traps and Christmastime warmth made it a box-office hit. "Home Alone" became the top-grossing movie of 1990, with $477.5 million worldwide, and earned two Oscar nominations.

Local theaters screening "Home Alone" include Farmingdale Multiplex Cinemas, Hampton Bays 5, Stony Brook 17 and the Island Cinema De Lux in Holtsville.
