James Franco's Sal Mineo biopic coming to theaters, plus more movie buzz

THE MOVIE "Sal"
THE DEAL Franco's long-shelved directorial effort appears to be heading to theaters. It's a biopic of the star of "Rebel Without a Cause" -- not James Dean but Sal Mineo, the gay actor who was murdered in 1976. A trailer for the movie can be seen at bit.ly/1eXoz9O. It premiered at the Venice Film Festival in 2011 and is due for release Nov. 1.

THE MOVIE "Madame Bovary"
THE DEAL The "Prometheus" actor has joined the cast of Sophie Barthes' adaptation of Gustave Flaubert's 1856 novel, according to Deadline.com. The film stars Mia Wasikowska as bourgeois adulteress Emma Bovary and also features Ezra Miller, Paul Giamatti and Rhys Ifans. Production is set to begin this week in Normandy, France.
THE MOVIE "Peter Gabriel: New Blood"
THE DEAL The British musician was captured with a 46-piece orchestra at the Hammersmith Apollo in March 2011 for this high-definition concert film. The multimedia performance included cover songs from his "Scratch My Back" album, along with material from his solo career.
