THE DEAL The actor’s new dramatic thriller has been given a release date, according to Deadline. McConaughey plays a fishing-boat captain living a quiet life until his past comes back to haunt him in the form of a glamorous woman (Anne Hathaway). The cast also includes Jason Clarke, Djimon Hounsou, Jeremy Strong and Diane Lane. The film, written and directed by Steven Knight, arrives in theaters Sept. 28.

THE DEAL The frontman for the hard rock band Metallica has landed his first major acting gig in a thriller based on the life of serial killer Ted Bundy, Variety reports. Hetfield will play Bob Hayward, a Utah highway patrolman who became the first cop to arrest Bundy (Zac Efron) after pulling him over early one morning in August 1975. Hetfield, 54, has provided voices for animated series and appeared in his band’s music videos but has never before played a character in a movie. Joe Berlinger, who captured the band in his groundbreaking rock doc “Metallica: Some Kind of Monster,” is the director.
THE MOVIE “Concert for George”
THE DEAL The concert film of a 2002 tribute to George Harrison will be rereleased into theaters nationwide next month. “Concert for George” captures such songs as “While My Guitar Gently Weeps,” played by Eric Clapton, Paul McCartney and Ringo Starr, and a version of “Taxman” from Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers. Also in the lineup are Ravi Shankar, Jools Holland and the Monty Python Mounties. The film has been remastered in 5.1 stereo surround sound. The former Beatle, who died in 2001, would have turned 75 on Feb. 25.
