THE MOVIE "Under the Skin"

THE DEAL The actress plays an alien seductress who prowls lonely highways for human prey in this sci-fi thriller recently purchased at the Toronto International Film Festival, according to reports. Upstart distributor A24, which has raised its profile with buzzworthy indie movies like "Spring Breakers" and "The Spectacular Now," bought U.S. rights for "Under the Skin," which premiered Monday. Jonathan Glazer ("Sexy Beast") directs.

THE MOVIE "August: Osage County"

THE DEAL Mixed reviews greeted this upcoming film after its screening at the Toronto International Film Festival earlier this week. Based on the acclaimed stage play by Tracy Letts, the movie stars Streep as a woman with cancer alongside such top-shelf actors as Julia Roberts, Abigail Breslin, Benedict Cumberbatch and Ewan McGregor. The Hollywood Reporter wrote that "even with this high-wattage cast, some electricity is missing," while London's Telegraph called it a "vastly enjoyable theatrical banquet, if perhaps not a profound one." It's directed by television veteran John Wells ("ER").

THE DEAL The band that helped define progressive rock in the '70s but found mainstream popularity during the New Wave '80s is the subject of Bill Shelley's latest compendium of concert clips, promotional films and documentary excerpts. The Freeport archivist promises to trace the group's evolution from mystical art rockers led by Peter Gabriel to radio-friendly pop group fronted by drummer-turned-singer Phil Collins.
