One of the best summer pleasures is outdoor movie night. Screenings can be found at beaches, parks, parking lots -- even the backyards of some venues. Movie genres range from kid-friendly animated flicks to action/adventure and romantic comedy hits from years past. Most screenings are free and some (but not all) welcome you to bring snacks and nonalcoholic beverages.

"When I watched 'Psycho' outdoors last summer, it added a whole new dimension of fear," says Alana Sims, manager of the Silas Marder Gallery in Bridgehampton. For the less adventurous, the gallery will offer outdoor screenings of classics such as "Singin' in the Rain" and the Fay Wray version of "King Kong" this summer. Seating is on hay bales.

Here's a schedule of outdoor movie screenings all summer.
