Aerosmith plans to celebrate its 40th anniversary the only way it knows how -- by rocking out.
The band from Boston announced its Cocked, Locked, Ready to Rock Tour, which starts July 23 in Oakland and stops at Nikon at Jones Beach Theater on Aug. 12.

"I thought it was time to get my mojo back by rockin South America and Europe... and then off to the rest of America to do what we do best!” said singer Steven Tyler, in announcing the band’s first American tour since he fell from a stage in South Dakota last summer. “We’re gonna rock you into the middle of next week!”

Tyler’s injury last year led to thoughts of taking a break from the band – as well as an addiction to painkillers that he handled with a stint in rehab earlier this year. Aerosmith has worked on its issues, however, and the Rock and Roll Hall of Famers are “running on all cylinders,” guitarist Joe Perry said.

Tickets go on sale through Live Nation on Friday. Sammy Hagar will open the show.
