The good news: The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame's 27th annual induction ceremony takes place Saturday at Cleveland's Public Hall -- a change from its usual home at the Waldorf-Astoria in Manhattan.

The not-so-good news: You'll have to wait until May 5 to see the festivities, when HBO airs a special on the event at 9 p.m.

Here's a look at some of those getting in:

 

Beastie Boys

 

KNOWN FOR The New York trio, sometimes equal parts hard-rock and hip-hop, earned its "License to Ill" early on.

KNOWN FOR The British Invasion folkie helped the psychedelic movement take flight with his "Sunshine Superman" and "Mellow Yellow" hits.

KNOWN FOR Axl Rose and his crew unleashed "Appetite for Destruction" on the world in 1987, giving us "Welcome to the Jungle," among many others.

KNOWN FOR In addition to the late singer-songwriter-pianist's two-decade-plus recording career, Nyro's songs found great success with other performers -- Barbra Streisand covered "Stoney End," the Fifth Dimension redid "Wedding Bell Blues."

Red Hot Chili Peppers

 

KNOWN FOR The Chili Peppers combined funk, punk and a crazy live show to become one of pop's most influential acts, breaking through with 1991's "BloodSugarSexMagik" album.

KNOWN FOR These groups inspired everyone from Paul Weller to Paul Westerberg, and also groomed Rod Stewart for solo fame.
