Bieber fever reached fever pitch Sunday night, and not in a good way, following teen idol Justin Bieber's loss to jazz artist Esperanza Spalding for the best new artist Grammy award.

As late as early Monday afternoon, enraged Bieber fans were still vandalizing Spalding's Wikipedia page with unprintable epithets - even after a Wikipedia administrator protected the page from anonymous users 15 hours earlier.

Spalding's own fans had likewise posted anti-Bieber creeds on their heroine's page. One writer said, "HaHa Justin Bieber, you're just a little boy with no Grammy for Best New Artist."

The stars themselves were either unaware or not commenting on the fan scrum.

Bieber told MTV News after the loss, "I'm not going to lie - I was disappointed," adding, "But, you know, I'm gonna come back [next year] and we'll take a few home."

Nonetheless, Spalding got along perfectly nicely with Bieber backstage, reported USA Today. "I like your hair," he said. "I like your hair," she replied.

HIGH RATINGS FOR SHOW

The Grammys hit a high note in the ratings Sunday night, drawing the show's biggest TV audience in a decade, The Associated Press reports. Preliminary Nielsen figures Monday show it attracted 26.6 million viewers, improving on last year's robust audience by 680,000 viewers.
