Billy Joel will sing in the new year with a January 13 concert at Madison Square Garden, marking the 87th in his unprecedented monthly residency there. It is his 113th concert at the storied arena.

General-public tickets go on sale 10 a.m. Friday at Ticketmaster.com.

Hicksville-raised Rock & Roll Hall of Famer Joel began his residency on Jan. 27, 2014, and he has performed monthly except for a long pause during the early phase of the COVID-19 pandemic. His Oct. 9, Nov. 23 and Dec. 19 Garden concerts are sold out, according to his website.

Joel, 73, who has homes in Sag Harbor and Centre Island, also is scheduled to play Minute Maid Park in Houston on Sept. 23, and he recently added a Nov. 11 show at Atlanta's ATLive Mercedes-Benz Stadium. He then leaves to do a pair of December concerts in New Zealand and Australia.

One of the biggest-selling musicians of all time, Joel has earned five Grammys plus a Grammy Legend Award, a Kennedy Center Honor and the Library of Congress' Gershwin Prize for Popular Song, and has been inducted into the Songwriters Hall of Fame and the Long Island Music Hall of Fame. His long list of classic songs includes "Piano Man," "Uptown Girl," "New York State of Mind" and "We Didn't Start the Fire."
