Billy Joel sets New Year's Eve concert at UBS Arena
Fans will get another chance to ring in the new year with Billy Joel when the Piano Man returns to Elmont’s UBS Arena on Dec. 31.
Presale tickets for the show will be available to Citi cardmembers from Sept. 16, at 10 a.m. through Sept.19, at 10 p.m. General-public ticket sales begin Sept. 20, at 10 a.m. via Ticketmaster.
The show marks Joel’s second New Year’s Eve date at UBS Arena, following his performance there in 2023-24. That concert ran roughly 2½ hours and included more than 20 Joel songs, plus a mix of covers such as Led Zeppelin’s “Whole Lotta Love,” the Regents’ “Barbara Ann” (also popularized by the Beach Boys) and The Beatles’ “All You Need Is Love.” The night ended with a New Year’s Eve countdown and a band rendition of “Auld Lang Syne.”
The show is also Joel’s first in the metropolitan area since he ended his remarkable 10-year residency at Madison Square Garden on July 25. That performance, which featured guest appearances from "Tonight" show host Jimmy Fallon and Axl Rose of Guns N’ Roses, counted as Joel’s 150th Garden show overall — a lifetime total that stretched back to his debut there in 1978.
Joel’s remaining tour dates for 2024 amount to what the 75-year-old singer once called “a pussycat of a schedule,” including a handful of U.S. dates through November. He’ll play on a bill with Rod Stewart in Cleveland this Friday, then with Sting for three dates in St. Louis, San Antonio and Las Vegas. Joel also has a show planned at the Mohegan Sun Arena in Connecticut on Feb. 22, 2025. In August, he played a gig in Cardiff, Wales.
