The Long Island Music and Entertainment Hall of Fame is about to get two new members: former Deep Purple guitarist Ritchie Blackmore and his wife, singer Candice Night, who make up Blackmore’s Night, a folk-rock duo from Huntington.
“I am so honored to be inducted into the Long Island Music and Entertainment Hall of Fame,” said Night, 53, in a statement. “Being surrounded by some of the greatest musicians, knowing we all have the same roots here is an incredible feeling. I've lived on Long Island my whole life and am constantly inspired by the energy here and the beauty of our nature.”
The induction ceremony will take place at the LIMEHOF museum, located at 97 Main St. in Stony Brook, on May 13 at 7 p.m. Night, who grew up in Hauppauge, will be on hand to accept the honor and perform acoustic selections from her new solo album, “Sea Glass.” Blackmore, 80, won’t be in attendance.
