Ido Zmishlany a.k.a. IdoVsTheWorld was so inspired by this year's “Tribute of Light,” where the World Trade Center Twin Towers are replaced by beams of light, that he decided to release his song “New York City”  today.

“It brought me right back to where I was when the planes hit,” Zmishlany explained on his website. “I remember sitting in my third period class at Lawrence High School in Cedarhurst and seeing the smoke cloud hovering over lower Manhattan. All those feelings of anger, frustration, and helplessness came rushing back. I thought that there was perhaps something that I could do with that energy now 11 years later.”

He decided to release “New York City,” a high point in the IdoVsTheWorld live set for months, on his website, with proceeds going to the Families of Freedom Scholarship Fund, which provides college scholarships to familes of those injured or killed in the 9/11 attacks.
