Joan Jett & The Blackhearts to open for The Who's North American tour dates

New Rock and Roll Hall of Fame inductees Joan Jett & The Blackhearts will be the opening act for the North American dates of "The Who Hits 50!" tour, it was announced Wednesday.
The tour, commemorating the 50th anniversary of the legendary British band, kicks off on April 15 in Tampa, Florida, and will make local stops at Nassau Coliseum (May 20), Barclays Center (May 26) and Forest Hills Stadium (May 30).
"Having Joan Jett & the Blackhearts, a great American rock band, support us on our North American dates will ensure concertgoers a full night of entertainment. I love her," said Who lead singer Roger Daltrey in a statement.
"We've been very close friends with Joan Jett for a long time. She is the real deal. This will be a great night of rock and roll for everyone," guitarist Pete Townshend added.
Jett is a longtime resident of Long Beach.
