The Red Hot Chili Peppers are bringing the heat again as the California foursome announced a 32-city global tour in 2022 that hits MetLife Stadium in East Rutherford, New Jersey, on Aug. 17. The Strokes and Thundercat will serve as special guests.
The band, which has reunited with guitarist John Frusciante, will play Europe starting in June and then begin the U.S. leg in late July running through mid-September. Ever the pranksters, the Peppers delivered this announcement via an old school breaking news skit with the band members dressed as anchors from the '70s on fictional channel KHOT.
"The Red Hot Chili Peppers have been around, and have not just fallen off the turnip truck, but to a man, they have never been more thrilled, bursting with commitment and purpose, as they are regarding this upcoming tour," said a statement released from the KHOT News Desk. "They have no interest in resting on past accolades, awards or commercial success, this is a mission, they intend to channel the most mighty spirits, and give everything they’ve got."
Tickets go on sale to the general public on Oct. 15 at 10 a.m. at ticketmaster.com and redhotchilipeppers.com.
