Police in Queens Saturday arrested hip-hop star Roddy Ricch shortly before his set at The Governors Ball at Citi Field, charging him and two companions with illegal firearm possession and related counts.

WNBC/4 and WPIX/11, expanding on a story first reported on TMZ.com, said Ricch, born Rodrick Moore Jr., was arrested after NYPD officers acting on a tip from private security searched either a car or Ricch's tour bus. Ricch, 23, was arrested around 6:40 p.m. and charged with four counts of criminal possession of a weapon; criminal possession of a large-capacity ammunition feeding device; and unlawful possession of an ammunition feeding device. TMZ said according to the NYPD, there were approximately 9 rounds of ammunition.

His companions, Michael Figueroa, 46, and Carlos Collins, 57, were arrested on similar charges.

The weekend-long Governors Ball announced on its Twitter account at 7:11 p.m. Saturday, "Unfortunately Roddy Ricch is no longer performing today."

TMZ reported that Ricch was released Sunday afternoon. According to The Associated Press, it was not immediately known if he had retained an attorney who could comment on the charges.

It was unclear Sunday afternoon if Ricch was still scheduled to perform that evening at the Hot 97 Summer Jam at MetLife Stadium in East Rutherford, New Jersey. The concert website continued to list him, and the promoters' social media had no posts indicating otherwise.

Los Angeles-based multiplatinum rapper Ricch, who reached no. 1 on the general Billboard Hot 100 chart in 2019 with "The Box," had not commented on social media as of Sunday late afternoon.
