Sean 'Diddy' Combs tops Forbes list of world’s 100 highest-paid celebrities

Hip-hop mogul Sean Combs tops Forbes magazine’s annual list of the world’s 100 highest-paid celebrities.

The magazine said Monday that the enduring hip-hop artist and entrepreneur, 47, jumped from No. 22 on last year’s list, earning $130 million not only from his Bad Boy Family Reunion Tour and a partnership with Diageo’s Ciroc vodka, but also from the $70 million sale of one-third of his Sean John fashion label.

At No. 2 is another musician, one of four in the top 10. Beyoncé ($105 million), 35, leapt from No. 34 due primarily to her album “Lemonade” and its accompanying Formation World Tour. Drake, 30, hit No. 4 ($94 million), due to streaming sales, his Boy Meets World Tour and partnerships with Apple, Sprite and Nike. Singer The Weeknd, 27, was No. 6 ($92 million) and the band Coldplay was No. 8 ($88 million).

The list’s top author was J.K. Rowling, 51, at No. 3 ($95 million), back on the list after three years. Her West End stage drama “Harry Potter and the Cursed Child” is sold out for the rest of this year and a good part of the next, and the book of the play sold millions. This past year also saw a new Harry Potter attraction at Universal Studios as well as the film “Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them,” which earned over $814 million worldwide on a budget of $180 million. The top 10’s only other author, novelist James Patterson, 70, dropped from No. 3 to No. 9 ($87 million).

Soccer star Cristiano Ronaldo, 32, at No. 5 ($93 million) and four-time NBA MVP LeBron James, also 32, at No. 10 ($86 million) are the highest-earning athletes. The top media personality is the Roosevelt- and Rockville Centre-raised Howard Stern, 63, at No. 7 ($90 million).

Other Long Island stars on the list are Massapequa-reared Jerry Seinfeld, 63, tied with Adele at No. 18, with $69 million from sources including live performances, an upcoming Netflix special, his ongoing Crackle series “Comedians in Cars Getting Coffee” and Hulu’s streaming of “Seinfeld.” At $37.5 million, Rockville Centre’s Amy Schumer, 36, reaches No. 69 thanks to, in part Bud Light and Old Navy endorsements, a Netflix comedy special and her hit memoir. And music icon Billy Joel, 68, raised in Hicksville, is at No. 82 with $35 million, a half-century into his career.

Last year’s top earner, singer-songwriter Taylor Swift, 27, dropped to No. 49 ($44 million) following the conclusion of her blockbuster 1989 World Tour.
