Pet Rock Film Festival 4

The fourth installment of the Pet Rock Film Festival features Swedish novelists, an animated Johnny Depp, a Bourne-y Matt Damon and a freaky make-up'd Mary-Kate Olsen, among others.

The PRFF guidelines are simple. We treat it like a trip to the movie theater.

We watch the trailers once and then formulate an opinion about the movie based on what we see, whom we see and other generalizations based on our knowledge and moviegoing preferences. In other words, we pretend we're watching the previews before a feature film.

"The Girl Who Kicked The Hornet's Nest"	Oct. 29, 2010	Haven't seen the movies or read the books, but this latest Stieg Larsson-based flick looks rather cool. Noomi Rapace's ink work is visually impressive.
"All Good Things"	Dec. 3	Wait a minute, did Ryan Gosling make a studio picture again? Rejoice!
"The Warrior's Way"	Dec. 3	"Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon" meets "The Last Samurai" meets "The Quick and the Dead" meets "Kill Bill Vol. I" plus Kate Bosworth.
"The Debt"	Dec. 29	A dead Nazi resurfaces in the Ukraine and Helen Mirren carries a gun again. Hmmm. Could be a good thriller.
"The Adjustment Bureau"	March 4, 2011	"The Informant!" notwithstanding, does Matt Damon make bad movies? Nope. There's a bit of a Bourne element here, if Bourne was a politician.
"Beastly"	March 18	A conceptually interesting modernization of the principles behind "Beauty and the Beast" plus Mary-Kate Olsen as some kind of freaky witch doctor.
"Rango"	March 18	Can't figure out if Johnny Depp's animated character is channeling his "Once Upon Time in Mexico " or "Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas" roles.
"Rio"	April 8	Some bird lobbyist must have complained that there were no animated movies for birds. No other explanation for this movie that I can see.
"Priest"	May 13	A super action/suspense flick involving churches and priests and the dude who played Silas in "The Da Vinci Code."
