Rebecca Taylor gets personal at New York Fashion Week
Designer Rebecca Taylor spent Friday morning at Lincoln Center preparing for her Fall 2012 show. Though she's a Fashion Week veteran, Taylor said she still gets pre-show jitters. "I get nervous every time," she said. "There are so many variables. I'm just looking around, like, are all our models here? What if they fall on the catwalk? What if a shoe breaks? It really gives me an ulcer."
Taylor, who lives in Brooklyn, said her Fall 2012 Collection is personal. "It's really about me. I'm definitely not an uptown girl," she said, dressed in a navy shirt dress with skinny jeans. "It's all clothes that I would really wear."
Models were made to look "pale with bushy eyebrows," said Mac makeup artist Sil Bruinsma, in order to give a rough downtown edge and leave all eyes on the deep jewel tones of the collection.
"This season's darkly poetic," Taylor said. "It's romantic. It's about a girl with a broken heart. The hues are a little bit evil. We have rich emeralds, sapphire blues, bordeauxs..."
After two months of preparation, Taylor said she plans to unwind when the show is over.
"We'll be at Rosa Mexicana taking tequila shots," she said.
