The Hamptons rolls out the red carpet for its annual film showcase, which draws plenty of Hollywood celebs and movie buffs alike who want to see emerging flicks.

Thursday's opening night film is "Love Marilyn," a documentary of rare Marilyn Monroe clips that will be shown at 7 p.m. Thursday at Guild Hall ($30). On Saturday, actor Richard Gere will receive a lifetime achievement award during a 7 p.m. staged chat hosted by Alec Baldwin ($30). Among the film highlights: Ben Affleck's film "Argo," Disney's kid-friendly "Frankenweenie" and "Not Fade Away," a directorial debut by David Chase (creator of "The Sopranos").

2. Susan Isaacs and Nelson DeMille

It's a literary twofer at Landmark on Main Street Tuesday. Two of Long Island's best-known (and bestselling) authors -- Nelson DeMille and Susan Isaacs -- team up for a Q&A and book release party.

3. Autumn sculpture tour

Take a guided stroll through Nassau County Museum of Art's Sculpture Park. 4. 'Long Island Medium'

5. Pumpkins on parade

Old Westbury Gardens is debuting a new Halloween attraction -- "Rise of the Jack O'Lanterns," a walk-through display of more than 5,000 individually carved and decorated pumpkins. Friday's opening night celebration includes a carving demonstration with Sea Cliff sculptor Andrew Gertler, who stars on Travel Channel's "Sand Masters."

6. Hear Beatles albums live

Classic Albums Live returns to Tilles Center for two nights of Beatles music in honor of what would have been John Lennon's 72nd birthday. On Friday, hear "The White Album" played song by song. On Saturday, the featured album is "Let It Be" -- get there early for a 6:15 screening of the documentary "Imagine: John Lennon," which is free for ticket-holders.

7. New planetarium opens

It's a big week for the Cradle of Aviation. Saturday, the museum celebrates the grand opening of its Jet Blue Sky Theater Planetarium, which projects real views from high-tech solar telescopes (plus digitally enhanced images) on a giant dome screen. Patrons can choose from three shows ($5 per screening): "We Are Astronomers," "One World, One Sky: Big Bird's Adventure" and "Passport to the Universe," a show narrated by Tom Hanks.
