'Take Me Out' extends Broadway run to June 11
The Broadway revival of "Take Me Out," which takes place in the world of baseball, is about to go into extra innings. Producers announced on Friday that the show's run has been extended by two weeks and will now continue through June 11.
The show, which opened Monday to mostly raves, features the Broadway debut of Jesse Williams (“Grey’s Anatomy”) as a star baseball player who creates numerous problems for his team when he comes out as gay. “Take Me Out,” written by East Meadow native Richard Greenberg, also stars two other television veterans — “Modern Family” star Jesse Tyler Ferguson as Williams’ money manager and Patrick J. Adams of “Suits” as Williams’ best friend and the play’s narrator.

“Take Me Out” was first presented on Broadway in 2003 and won Tony Awards for best play, another for Joe Mantello’s direction and a third award for Denis O’Hare’s performance in the role now played by Ferguson. It was also nominated for the Pulitzer Prize for drama.
