It will soon be game over for the Pinball Wizard. Producers of the revival of "The Who's Tommy" announced Tuesday that the show will end its Broadway run at the Nederlander Theatre on July 21.

The rock opera about Tommy Walker, who goes from traumatized child to celebrated icon thanks to his innate knack for pinball, features a number of classic songs by The Who, including "Pinball Wizard" and "I'm Free." It did receive a Tony Award nomination for best musical revival, but lost to the retooled version of Stephen Sondheim's "Merrily We Roll Along."

"The Who's Tommy" features music and lyrics by band co-founder Pete Townshend, who co-wrote the book with director Des McAnuff.  The original production, which ran from April 1993 to June 1995 and was also helmed by McAnuff, won five Tony Awards, including one for his direction and another for Townshend's score. The revival will only have played 20 previews and 132 performances when it closes next month.

A national tour of the show is set to begin at the Providence Performing Arts Center in Rhode Island in the fall of 2025.
