'48 Hours Mystery' episode on Jeffrey Locker

"48 Hours Mystery" has an episode Saturday night that I suspect will be of interest to Long Island viewers, and certainly to those who live in North Woodmere, where Jeffrey Locker, 52, lived before his murder in 2009. The body of Locker, a father of three and motivational speaker, was found in Manhattan on July 16, and Kenneth Minor, 38, was collared a little while later. Minor said Locker had paid him to kill him. "48" talks to Minor, who was convicted last year for the murder, and also sent Newsday a transcript of the interview; I posted a piece of it below...(and the transcription is a bit rough, but you can get the idea; "R" refers to Richard Schlesinger, who reported...

15. They hauled in Kenneth Minor. It wasn’t his first brush with the law. He had a record of drug violations and a robbery------...a sad profile that fits many murderers...but Kenneth Minor had a story unlike any other murder suspect. Minor: Nobody wanted to believe me

16. It all started when he met Locker on a street corner in Harlem 10:59:37 R: what did he say?

Minor: He said he was looking for a gun

4. He was ready to tell his story. It began on that street corner in Harlem 10:57:38;08 Minor: I had a real drinkin' problem. 10:58:04;14 And I needed to make a // couple extra dollars. //so I was buyin' drugs / and re-sellin' 'em at a higher price. // And then Mr. Locker pulled up.

6. Locker, he says, wanted someone to get him a gun. That's when I told him to get get outta here // You gotta be police. And Jeffery Locker tells him, "I want you to shoot me."
