‘American Idol’: Fox sets three-night ‘grand finale’ week beginning April 5

Fox has put the final touches on the “American Idol” farewell. The three original judges, Paula Abdul, Simon Cowell and Randy Jackson, will return for “grand finale” week beginning April 5. In addition, dozens of finalists from past seasons will get their curtain call, too.
A 90-minute April 5 retrospective, per Fox, will feature host Ryan Seacrest, the former judges, and “behind-the-scenes team” sharing their personal “Idol” memories, as they reflect on what the show has meant to them and how it became the groundbreaking series that it is today.
The April 6 edition, originating from the Dolby, will be the finalists’ competition, while the last results show, on April 7, will include performances by Kelly Clarkson and Carrie Underwood — the biggest stars to emerge during these 15 seasons — and dozens of others.
The network released a list that did not include at least three former “Idol” stars — David Archuleta (season 7), Adam Lambert (season 8), or Jennifer Hudson (Season 6) — but noted that “more” past performers could be included by airdate while “surprises” were still expected.
The 15th season winner will also be named April 7.
