Busy (busy) Amy Schumer -- who wrapped a sold-out show at the Garden Thursday, whose show, “Inside Amy Schumer” wrapped the 16th, and whose book, “The Girl with the Lower Back Tattoo” will unwrap Aug. 16 -- is getting busier still. Live Nation Friday morning announced dates for a 50 (plus) city world tour beginning in August, which will include stops at a couple of area venues, including the Prudential Center in Newark Sept. 28 and MSG again on Oct. 18. (Tickets go on sale Tuesday at 10 a.m.)
In another little busy twist in her week, the Rockville Centre-raised comedian directed Comedy Central Thursday to release a sketch that had been cut from an earlier episode this season, April 28th’s “Welcome to the Gun Show.” No reason given why the clip did not make the show originally, but it is a solid hit (again) on guns and those who profit from them.
A vocal gun control advocate, Schumer spoke to Politico earlier this week, saying: “I am sickened by the cowardice of these people who are supposed to lead us. Their dedication seems to be only to dollar signs for their own pockets. In November, we will remember who stood with the gun lobby, rather than their constituents, as we mourned for Orlando.”
The skit stars Jon Benjamin as a lawyer saying, “Have you ever been injured in a mass shooting or other gun crime? Do you want justice? Hi, I’m Toby Shrak of the law firm of Shrak and Murphy, but don’t call me, because there’s nothing I can do.”
The skit has not yet been posted on Comedy Central’s website.
