“Dancing with the Stars” ballroom pro Maksim Chmerkovskiy, paired with former “Glee” star Heather Morris this season, has suffered an injury that forced him to miss Monday’s show and has put him out indefinitely.

“Good Morning America” on Monday said it got word Friday of the mishap, and aired undated rehearsal footage of Chmerkovskiy, 37, jitterbugging with Morris, 30, in a dance studio. As the two move to the Little Mix song “Grown,” Chmerkovskiy suddenly calls out in pain and begins hopping on his left foot. After an editing cut, we see him leaning forward, his hands on his knees, saying, “It’s my calf muscle. . . . It just felt like something hit it.”

The Ukraine-born dancer gave no details Monday when he posted on social media, “Sorry I was MIA.” Saying the injury would be explained on that night’s show, he acknowledged that Morris “would have to hold it down for both of us. Please show her your love and support while I work on getting my ass back to the ballroom. #DidNotSeeThisComing #WillBeBackBetterThanEver.”

Troupe dancer Alan Bersten will fill in for him, “GMA” said, noting that Chmerkovskiy will attend the taping and offer his support.

“Will be missing @MaksimC tonight, but you better believe I’m still bringing the heat with @Dance10Alan,” tweeted Morris on Monday. “In the meantime #TeamMaksimumHeat.”
