"Harry Potter" star Daniel Radcliffe hosted "Saturday Night Live" this weekend for the first time, portraying Casey Anthony's new dog during "Weekend Update."
Anthony, who was acquitted in the slaying of her daughter Caylee, revealed in one of her recently released videos that she has adopted a pup.
With his face and head done up in full Yorkie attire, Radcliffe, 22, "really shined," wrote Crushable.com's Molly Horan, "not in small part because they let him drop the American accent he was saddled with for most of the other sketches."
Asked by "Weekend Update" anchor Seth Meyers how he ended up as Anthony's pet, Radcliffe deadpanned, "I think that perhaps the dog adoption screening process can be slightly more diligent."
Later, after referring to Anthony as a "perfectly normal woman" found not guilty by a jury of her peers, he calmly added, "I'm kidding, Seth. Dogs can be sarcastic, too. It's not just for cats."
Radcliffe, fresh off his Broadway revival of "How to Succeed in Business Without Really Trying," next appears in the horror-thriller "The Woman in Black," based on the Susan Hill novel and also starring Ciarán Hinds and Janet McTeer. The movie is set for release Feb. 3.
