Singer-actress Demi Lovato may be close to signing on as a guest star for an arc of "Glee."
"The X Factor" judge would play Dani, a struggling New York artist, TVLine.com reported Monday. The new character, a friend to Rachel (Lea Michele) and Santana (Naya Rivera), will also interact and perform with singer Adam Lambert's upcoming character, the site said.
Lovato, who turns 21 Tuesday, would appear in at least a half-dozen episodes, starting with the second part of the two-part season-opener tribute to The Beatles. The fifth season of "Glee" premieres Sept. 26.
Lovato's spokesman told Newsday, "I don't have anything to add at the moment."
Best known for her starring role in the 2008 Disney Channel movie "Camp Rock," Lovato began her professional career on the children's TV series, "Barney & Friends."
From 2009 to 2011, she played the title role in the Disney Channel's "Sonny with a Chance." She released her fourth album, "Demi," in May.
