Tim Urban or Didi Benami is about to be cut from "American Idol." And it's . . . Didi! Which means grinning Tim survives another horrible performance, thanks to his legion of 'tween fans.

I didn't think Didi was that bad with "What Becomes of the Broken Hearted." She sings it again. I'm going to miss her. She wore her heart on her sleeve, had a pretty good voice and really wanted it badly. And it was heartbreaking hearing how she came on the show in memory of her best friend.

But nobody's going be talking about her performance. Tonight was all about Usher vs. Diddy, as the two musical superstars gave two very different performances on the show.

Diddy and his edge came across better than Usher, who seemed a bit too Broadway. However, I thought Usher was one of the best mentors the show's ever had, and directly influenced the results, giving Lee Dewyze and Andrew Garcia the confidence boost to perform their best and jump back into the running.

I said it a few years ago after Prince came on the show -- there's nobody who won't do "American Idol" now. Prince gave it artistic credibility and the fact that it's by far the biggest show on TV guarantees anyone with an album to sell is going to try to get on.

As for "Teflon Tim," hopefully next week is when he gets off the show. He's a nice guy, but is making bad song choices and has begun embarrassing himself.
