Ellen DeGeneres hints she could leave her talk show after 2020
Will Ellen DeGeneres leave her hit daytime talk show when her recently extended contract runs out in summer 2020?
In an interview Wednesday in The New York Times, DeGeneres, 60 — TV's second-highest-paid host, earning an estimated $87.5 million this year, according to Forbes magazine's most recent list — indicated it's a consideration.
"She gets mad when my brother tells me I can't stop," DeGeneres said, referring to her actress-wife, Portia de Rossi, and her brother, comedian Vance DeGeneres, who wants her to stay on for the positivity her show brings.
Responded de Rossi, 45, "I just think she's such a brilliant actress and stand-up that it doesn't have to be this talk show for her creativity,” adding, "I don't see the end of her show as her career ending."
