Mark Ballas injury threatens his role in 'Dancing With the Stars' finale

One day after injuring his shoulder while rehearsing for the "Dancing With the Stars" two-night finale, professional dancer Mark Ballas performed Monday with partner Candace Cameron Bure.

And performed well: The couple earned a score of 27 out of 30 for their first dance of the night, the Quick Step.

Ballas' representative had hold People magazine Monday that he had been "seriously injured during camera blocking" rehearsals for the show. "His shoulder popped out during a lift and he was taken by ambulance to the hospital where he was treated and released. It's unclear whether or not he'll be able to perform on Monday's show."

The 18th-season finale concludes Tuesday night at 9 on ABC/7. Ballas is partnered with Bure, best known as a child star of ABC's 1987-95 comedy "Full House."

Bure has not commented publicly. Ballas tweeted, "Hey y'all. I'm doing alright, thanks for the love."

People said the 27-year-old pro dancer hurt himself at the CBS studio where the show is produced, while lifting Bure in a complex dance maneuver. Fellow pros Cheryl Burke and Derek Hough rushed to his aid, People added, and encouraged him to miss Monday's finale so as not to exacerbate his injury.

"I'm not sure exactly what happened but I think it kind of came out and went back in,' Hough told ABC News. "What makes me nervous a little bit is that he's had a serious shoulder surgery before, on the other shoulder," he added.

Ballas had injured a shoulder during his routine with The Cheetah Girls singer-actress Sabrina Bryan during the live fifth-season finale on Nov. 27, 2007, and had surgery for it that Dec. 5.

He first appeared Monday in a black sling, which he removed for the dance. Host Tom Bergeron said he had had an MRI, and had been cleared by his doctor.
