A Manhasset-raised New York City attorney competed on "Jeopardy!" Thursday night, falling to returning champion Emily Fiasco.

Anjali Bhat, 37, the daughter of Manhasset pulmonologist Dr. Urmila Shivaram Bhat, was pitted against St. Louis, Missouri, middle-school band director Fiasco and Mark Primiano, a Chicago veterinarian.

Bhat, who according to her LinkedIn account works as an assistant attorney general under state Attorney General Letitia James, graduated from Manhasset High School and Swarthmore College. She went on to receive a law degree from Columbia University Law School in 2011, and then worked for various firms and as a clerk for federal Judge William F. Kuntz II, in the Eastern District of New York.

She lives in Manhattan and said she gets around riding "an electric unicycle, which I started riding during the pandemic when I was looking for COVID-safe ways to get around the city that did not involve the subway." And yes, she wears a helmet.

Bhat, who was in third place during the first round, rallied to second place in "Double Jeopardy!" Having reached "Final Jeopardy!" with $12,600, she incorrectly answered the clue under category "The 20th Century": "Maybe surprisingly, in 1918 this new leader was the first to recognize the independence of Finland." The correct answer was "Who is Vladimir Lenin?" Having responded with "Who is [Joseph] Stalin?" Bhat lost her total winnings because she bid all $12,600 and ended up in third place, behind Primiano (he correctly answered "Who is Lenin?").

She ended the episode in third place, but went home with a $1,000 promotional prize.
