“The Hollars” director-star John Krasinski, best known for his long stint as Jim Halpert on the sitcom “The Office,” will play novelist Tom Clancy’s action hero Jack Ryan in an Amazon Prime Video series.
The streaming service said Tuesday that Krasinski, 36, portrays the character as an up-and-coming CIA analyst on his first field assignment. Graham Roland (A&E’s “The Returned”) wrote the pilot based on a story he wrote with Carlton Cuse (“Lost”).
Ten one-hour episodes of “Jack Ryan” are scheduled to shoot in the U.S., Europe and Africa. Ryan has been depicted on film by Alec Baldwin, Harrison Ford and Ben Affleck, with Chris Pine playing the character as a young agent in 2014’s “Jack Ryan: Shadow Recruit.”
