With new MTV reality show, it's Lindsay Lohan like you've never seen her before, the LIer says

With her MTV reality show, "Lindsay Lohan's Beach Club," premiering Tuesday at 8 p.m., actress Lindsay Lohan says she is embracing the hospitality industry as she branches out from her core career.

"I think [the show] gives people a front-row seat to a different side of my life that many haven't seen before," the "Mean Girls" star, 32, tells Newsday in an email interview. With beach clubs on Mykonos and Rhodes, after having partnered in a successful Athens nightclub, "I'm excited to share my passion for the hospitality industry and a behind-the-scenes look into how I build my empire," she says.

The new show centers on Lohan Mykonos Beach House, which she and business partner and series co-star Panos Spentzos launched on that Greek island's Kalo Livadi beach in May.  Her second beach club opened on the isle of Rhodes shortly thereafter, immersing her in a learning curve. "With any job," says Lohan, who was raised in Cold Spring Harbor and Merrick, "you're always learning as you try new and different things. We're always finding new ways to attract clientele and ensure their experience is unforgettable."

Billed as a "Vanderpump Rules"-like show about the hosts and other staff of her venue, the series features nine nightclub veterans rooming together in a palatial home. The premiere shows them being star-struck, becoming emotional on the job and, at least in the footage broadcast, sometimes acting remarkably unprofessional despite Lohan assuring that, "I worked with MTV to hand pick the VIP hosts and ensure we were getting the best of the best in the hospitality industry." The hosts "knew it was going to be a reality show on MTV when they applied," she says. "However, they had no idea who they were going to be working for until they arrived in Mykonos."

One hostess at a disciplinary sit-down with the boss starts to cry. "It definitely made me question if she was cut out for the job and able to take on this level of responsibility," Lohan says. "I'm always willing to give a lending ear to my team whenever they need encouragement and support, but in this instance in particular, she let her guard down too early. Personally, I would never cry on my first day of the job."

Even without the show, the club, she says, is a personal milestone for her. She recalls her mother Dina’s pride when the two saw the beach club under construction.

"It was a special moment for the both of us," Lohan says. "It symbolized how I was able to overcome so much in my life and marked the beginning of a new chapter."
